New email update:
Hey Widi & Team – happy Friday!
I just met with my team leadership, and we are all happy to move forward with Motion for our animated videos. Hooray! We’ve also had a little more discussion around what we actually need to accomplish with these, and there have been a few changes in our scope and timeline:
- We have a brand new CEO who has hit the ground running on new AI initiatives and offerings within our product, so we will likely need to pause on creating these videos until she has solidified the messaging around these AI service offerings. This is a VERY recent development and things are now up in the air – sorry for the change up!
- We discussed keeping the videos a little shorter, with all three being around the 60 second mark to keep audience attention and keep things high-level.
- I shared this video example from Motion’s portfolio and we all really like the quality and animation style, as well as how it focuses on key functionalities rather than the actual platform UI. Our product team recently mentioned making (much needed) UI updates, so this may be a safer route to highlight key platform functionalities instead of showing the actual software. This is kind of what I’ve tried to do with all of the “screenshots” on our website – they don’t actually look much like our platform, but they still show the functionality in small snippets. I’m sure we’d be able discuss this further once we’re really able to kick off this project!
- I’m not sure if this is already part of the project scope of animated videos, but we’d love a flashy new animated logo intro for our other videos! I created this one after trying my hardest to learn animation from scratch in one afternoon, and this would be a great opportunity to let the pros take over. I will be filming a lot of in-house videos, so it would be awesome if we could have a separate clip of just the logo intro that I can add to the filmed videos as well.
Our meeting was cut short before we could discuss an actual timeline, and I’ll be honest, it is probably going to be up in the air with how our current projects and events have ballooned into major initiatives with all hands on deck (in addition to implementing rapid changes being made by new leadership).
The good news, though, is that I have the green light to move forward with Motion once we are able to pick up on these videos!
Thank you all for your patience and I really look forward to working with you on this project.
Have a great weekend,
